Last night Chris and I spent the evening at the Beer, Wine and Food Festival in Glendale. It was a great event and I wanted to write a post about it right away because you still have the chance to attend tonight. If you’ve never been to Glendale, it is such a cute , quaint town and was one of Ohio’s original planned communities. There are creative black squirrel statues around town and a really great town square, which is where the festival was held.

It was such a beautiful summer night and it was great to spend it outside tasting some beer and supporting The Cure Starts Now. The cost for a tasting ticket was $30 which included 5 tastes and a really nice little tasting glass. All proceeds from the event go toward the work that The Cure Starts Now does to find a cure for pediatric cancer. There are also non-tasting tickets available for $10.

I was really impressed by the variety of beer tasting options that were available. There were over 100 varieties with a good mix of local and national craft beer breweries. A few of the local breweries included Moerlein, MadTree, West Sixth, and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel. Some of the well-known national brands in attendance were Fat Head, Hoppin’ Frog, Left Hand, North Coast, Great Lakes, Stone, Breckenridge, Goose Island, Sam Adams and Deschutes. Chris went through his tasting tickets pretty quickly but luckily was able to purchase more! I was pleasantly surprised by the unique beers that many of the breweries brought. I wasn’t in the mood for wine last night, but there were plenty of options for wine drinkers too.

Along with the beer and wine there were plenty of options for food. There were several food trucks and stands located throughout the festival. This year the festival is themed “Bacon Edition” so every food vendor had at least one item featuring bacon. Chris had an amazing smoked brisket with barbecue sandwich from Velvet Smoke BBQ. Just walking by their stand made my mouth water! I had a chicken, pesto hoagie sandwich from Roll With It Cafe which was also really good. Graeter’s was there offering free Elena’s Blueberry ice cream from 5-6pm as part of the Cones for the Cure campaign and had ice cream available for purchase all night long.
